Please note: This is a work-in-progress family history project. Some details may be incomplete or subject to revision as research continues. Corrections, additions, and personal memories are warmly welcomed.

Welcome to the Hollingsworth Family History Project

Every name, every date, every photograph on this site tells part of a larger story — the story of our family. This website is a work in progress, much like the lives it documents. I’m building it piece by piece, drawing from old records, photographs, and memories shared by family members past and present.

While some of those featured here are no longer with us, this isn’t a site about loss — it’s about life. When we see a name followed by two dates, it’s the little dash in between that matters most. That dash represents the laughter, the work, the struggles, the friendships, and the ordinary days that made each of them who they were. That’s what this project aims to capture.

A Living Archive

This is not a finished project — and it’s not meant to be. Family history is alive; it grows as new generations arrive and new stories surface. Every discovery, memory, and photograph helps us understand not just where we come from, but who we are.

If you’ve got a memory, a story, or even just a passing recollection of someone mentioned here — please share it. Whether it’s a story told over a pint, a photo tucked in an old album, or something passed down in conversation, it all adds richness and truth to the lives we’re recording.

What You’ll Find Here

This website brings together research, family interviews, and historical context to create detailed life stories of our relatives — people who lived through the same streets, schools, and workplaces that shaped the Liverpool and Cheshire of their time. Each biography is written not just from documents, but from understanding: who they were, what they valued, and how the world around them influenced their lives.

You can explore:

  • Individual life stories – carefully researched biographies that blend fact with personal memory
  • Family trees – connecting generations across the Hollingsworth, Lesbirel, Dutton, Roach, and related families
  • Photographs and documents – the tangible evidence of lives lived
  • Ongoing research updates – as new discoveries are made, they’ll be shared here

Get Involved

If you’re family — close, distant, or newly discovered — you’re part of this project. I welcome your input, corrections, and especially your stories. Every small detail helps fill in the picture of who we were, and who we are.

Why It Matters

History isn’t just what’s written in books or recorded in archives — it’s found in the everyday lives of people like our grandparents and great-grandparents. Their experiences of work, love, laughter, and loss shaped not only their own generation but also ours.

By preserving these lives and stories, we keep their memories alive. And maybe, in doing so, we find a little more of ourselves. Explore the documents that underpin each branch, and visit individual person pages to read narratives about your relatives’ lives.
